Swiping a Pineapple Under the Sea: A Brisbane Kids’ Day Photo Diary
Before the tennis got down to business on Sunday in Brisbane, Roger Federer, Grigor Dimitrov, Milos Raonic, Victoria Azarenka, Martina Hingis and Bethanie Mattek-Sands flipped the script and entertained the Pat Rafter Arena crowd with triples – yes, triples! – action during the Suncorp Kids Tennis Day festivities. Check out some of TTI’s favorite snaps of the fun and frolic.

The players were split into two teams based off of famous Nickelodeon characters. Team Spongebob featured Federer, Hingis and Mattek-Sands…
…while Team Dora sent out Raonic, Dimitrov and Azarenka.
With Raonic’s serve on her side, Azarenka had no trouble holding her return.
Hingis might be playing the Brisbane International alongside Sabine Lisicki, but she and Federer look pretty good on court together. While rumors swirled prior to the London Olympics that the two might make a foray in mixed doubles, Hingis stayed retired then and the dream never came to fruition. With mixed still on the table at the Rio Olympics in 2016, might we see the Swiss legends pair up for real – for a run at gold?
Azarenka broke out the heavy artillery while Donatello the Ninja Turtle looked on – unsure of her intentions.
Undaunted by danger, Dimitrov reached for his second weapon blade-first. An unorthodox approach though it was, and cheered on by Michelangelo, it didn’t help his team’s cause. Team Spongebob “won” by retirement after two games. (Spoiler alert: Actually, everyone won.)
