Style Seeds Exclusive: The Fila Spring Collection

With the spring American hard court season just around the corner, on-court fashion is set to ignite as the big-name brands debut their latest collections. This week, TTI showcases who’ll be wearing what in the desert from the fashion mavericks at Fila.

The Women

Ready, Set, Glow! It’s all in the name as Fila transitions from January’s Aussie brights to the green and purple courts of the BNP Paribas and Miami Opens. With a spring palette of three dominant colorways – featuring knockout pink, green gecko and navy heather – the Fila women will stand out from the crowd in the most daring of ways.

Fila’s emphasis for spring will be in the detail, with garments showcasing contrast stitching and sharp shots of color.

Fila Glow Dress ($80)

Fila’s main draw will be Jelena Jankovic. The Serb may be on the periphery of the world’s Top 20, but she’s gone deep in Indian Wells before, winning the title in 2010 and defeating then-World No.4 Caroline Wozniacki in straight sets. Jankovic will sport the Glow Dress – a racerback style with contrast stitching and an inbuilt bra. The dress will feature the brand’s silver embossed logo and will arrive in Fila’s knockout pink and navy heather colorway (seen above), as well green gecko and white.

Fila Glow two tone racerback tank ($64) and Glow stitch skort ($68)

Both Julia Goerges and Yaroslava Shvedova will debut Fila’s line of separates in the coming weeks. Fila is providing five top silhouettes for their spring line. The two tone racerback (seen above) will showcase bold color blocking. Meanwhile, the Glow racerback (seen below) features a contrast color coverstitch and inside bra.

The loose tank offers contrast color coverstitching at the hem and side seams. The fullback tank incorporates a neck binding design detail, while the cap sleeve top will feature a contrast color coverstich and an open placket.

Also on the agenda are two very different skort styles. The Glow contrast skort is a perfect pairing to any of the top silhouettes, designed with contrast color coverstitching, a contrast color Forza inside ball short, 13 ½” center back length and Fila’s bespoke COOLMAX® EVERYDAY skort lining.

The stitch skort, by contrast, will showcase the elements of the Glow contrast skort, but with a 14 ½” center back length. Both skirts will feature the silver cut out F-Box logo. Completing the Ready, Set, Glow! Line will be a half zip jacket and a full zip jacket and leggings perfectly primed for warmups with flashes of neon color.

The Men

While the women may be sporting spots of bright hues, the men will debut Fila’s Suit Up line. Taking a cue from traditional tailoring techniques, Fila has incorporated a dapper herringbone and chevron textile cut into sharp silhouettes.

Riffing on the elegance of a gentleman’s wardrobe, colorways of majolica blue, safety yellow, black, and white will transition supremely well from day to dusk – on and off the court.

The Suit Up collection will feature four shirt styles. The Suit Up short sleeve crew favored by Italian, Andreas Seppi (seen above) was designed with classic dressing in mind. The crew features a curved hem and drop tail, as well as contrast color piping and a front neck rib.

The v-neck top styled on Dusan Lajovic (seen below), meanwhile, incorporates a mix of knitwear and herringbone trim, which also comes into play for the textured jacquard polo featuring a placket design with a three-hidden button enclosure, contrast color neck tape and an inside back yoke.

America’s Sam Querrey will sport Fila’s chevron polo design (seen below) crafted with side vents and an inside hem for extra breathability and comfort. Accompanying the Suit Up shirts will be a matching short in black, white, safety yellow and majolica blue hues to coordinate the streamlined color palette.

The shorts will feature a contrast interior waistband with a drawcord, along with a side seam pockets (9” inseam/20 ½” outseam) and of course, the silver cut out F-Box logo.

Bespoke to the line will be Fila’s Suit Up Herringbone Jacket. Designed in a black two-tone herringbone with contrast white, the jacket will sport striped rib cuffs, collar and bottom, as well as a contrast color neck tape and welt pockets.

Suit Up will also feature a half zip jacket and trouser to complete the look.

The Ready, Set, Glow! and Suit Up collections will be available at Fila.com this spring, and remember to follow @FilaTennis to track the performance of their headline players at both the BNP Paribas Open and the Miami Open.
